Wyndham Garden New Orleans Airport, located in Metairie, is looking for an experienced Group Sales Manager.

JOB OVERVIEW:

To increase hotel revenue by assisting in the development and implementation of solicitation programs in line with the hotel financial objectives and targets. The Sales Manager generates business from the market segments in assigned personal territory.

REPORTS TO: Director of Sales & Marketing/ General Manager

 WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Both on- and off-site of hotel property Job involves working:

Under variable temperature conditions (or extreme heat or cold).

Under variable noise levels. Outdoors/indoors.

Around fumes and/or odor hazards. Around dust and/or mite hazards.

Around chemicals.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Sales Managers, Director of Sales & Marketing, Executive Committee Members, all Department Managers, and Assistants.

External: Hotel guests/visitors, civic organizations, meeting planners, media, travel industry, food and wine industry, trade associations, other hotel executives, vendors, owners representatives, and Corporate Office personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:

1. College degree.

2. 2 years Sales Manager experience.

3. Strong managerial and supervisory skills.

4. Compute accurate mathematical calculations.

5. Fluency in English both verbally and non-verbally.

6. Ability to:

Communicate in a clearly and effectively with guests, clients, and co-workers in both written and verbal forms. Perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.

Prioritize and organize.

Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment.

Follow directions thoroughly.

Understand guest's service needs.

Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.

Work with minimal supervision.

Maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.

Understand market segmentation, yield and inventory management.

Desirable:

1. Marketing degree.

2. Certification of previous training in computers.

3. Experience with computers,

4.Previous guest relations training.

5. Previous experience in hospitality industry, preferably a 3 star hotel.

6. Familiarity with statistical reports.

7. Satisfactorily communicate with guests, management, and co-workers to their understanding.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Establish and maintain active working partnerships with the sales & reservations departments of key Travel Partners.

2. Initiate and implement sales promotional programs with travel partners

3. Broaden productive client base and increase awareness of hotel.

4. Conduct personalized sales campaigns within designated territory to promote the hotels, programs, packages, and special promotions.

5. Coordinate and participate in trade shows/seminars aimed at hotel target markets.

6. Maximize exposure through creative promotion both during and pre/post event.

7. Aggressively solicit and follow up on leads generated.

8. Actively participate in key trade and business associations to generate business leads and increase hotel visibility.

9. Preparation and presentation of business proposals, which meet clients' needs and expectations, and provide alternatives.

10. Follow up on group business (pending, tentative and booked) to ensure client satisfaction and materialization at hotel.

11. Keep abreast of market trends, competitor's activities, and guest/client feedback.

12. Respond to all correspondence to clients.

13. Make sales calls.

14. Make sales presentations

15. Manage key accounts.

16. Attend, participate and/or lead pre-convention meetings

17. Greet guests during events.

18. Monitor office administrative support personnel.

19. Train others in the Sales Call Process.

20. Understand room types, rate and codes.

21. Make room reservations.

22. Conduct site visits.

23. Attend trade shows.

24. Entertain clients.

25. Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards.

26. Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.

27. Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day.

28. Maintain positive guest relations at all times.

29. Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.

30. Access all functions of computer

31. Make telephone calls to specified individuals as requested by the Director of Sales and Market.

32. Prepare correspondence, memos, proposals, contracts, and reports.

33. Document all guest requests/complaints and communicate such to respective personnel for proper handling. Follow up on guest satisfaction.

34. Maintain confidentiality and security of specified hotel information, correspondence, reports, and files.
